Nagaoka MP-MONO / Moving Permalloy Monaural Cartridge The monaural cartridge is a cartridge specially designed for monaural playback to bring out the full power of the monaural sound and the expression of the sound image. The appeal of monaural music is being reevaluated, and there has been a succession of reissues of famous recordings from the past. Most monaural cartridges on the market today use stylus tips with a needle tip size of 0.6 to 0.7 mils to meet the needs of modern record cutting. The MP-MONO is equipped with a 0.7-mil stylus tip as standard equipment, and was developed to bring out the contours and realism of the sound of monaural recordings and to achieve high-resolution monaural reproduction.
The 1mil stylus tip is a stylus tip that can reproduce powerful sounds with thick mid-bass tones. In the era when monaural recordings were the norm (mid-1940s to mid-1950s), record reproduction with a 1-mil stylus tip was the norm. This tuning is designed to provide a more true monaural experience by focusing on the sound field and atmosphere of that era.
