IKEDA Sound Labs IST-201 step-up transformer / New / Ships from Japan

IST-201 is a step-up transformer for low-impedance (1 to 6 ohms) MC cartridges. The transformer body made of high performance core material is magnetically shielded with high permeability mu-metal and housed in a large shield case with excellent conductivity for perfect shielding. In addition, the transformer body has a floating structure, and the main chassis (machined from solid aluminum) has legs made of anti-vibration material from Getzner (Ostoria), which prevents it from being affected by vibrations from inside and outside. To improve resolution and characteristics, high-precision VISHY S-102K terminating resistors are used on the transformer secondary side.

It has stable characteristics even with changes in connected cables and load impedance. The machined rhodium-plated RCA jacks are mounted on insulating plates to prevent shielding effects whose effects cannot be ignored for such weak signals as those of MC cartridges. Low-impedance MC cartridges can be used to their fullest potential with a good quality MC transformer. Since IST-201 is a transformer with low internal loss, it can be used with various low-impedance MC cartridges, including the IKEDA9 series, to enjoy excellent sound.
